Patience, Practice & Presence of Mind

Abiha Fatima · Neurodevelopmental Care · August 2025

Abiha's reflection centres on learning to adapt during clinical interactions and remain composed when sessions did not unfold as expected.

Neurodevelopmental work can require constant responsiveness. A planned activity may not capture a child's interest, and a clinician or trainee may need to adjust the pace, tone or objective without losing the framework of the session.

Her experience reinforced that real clinical work is not textbook-like. Experience teaches things that no amount of reading can fully reproduce: how to respond to the person in front of you, how to balance structure with flexibility, and how to remain present when the plan changes.

HEALTH VISION Care is clinical. It is also human.

Our community stories reflect the learning, compassion, collaboration and practical work that sit behind healthcare and welfare.
